20th Edition to Be Held at Suyeong Bay Yacht Stadium, April 24-27
34 Yachts from 10 Countries, Over 280 Participants to Compete in the Race

A racing festival featuring world-class yachts will unfold off the coast of Suyeong Bay.

The city of Busan (Mayor Park Heongjoon) announced on April 22 that it will host the '2025 Busan Super Cup International Yacht Race' at the Suyeong Bay Yacht Stadium over four days, from April 24 to April 27.

This event, organized by the city and hosted by the Busan Yacht Association, aims to revitalize marine leisure tourism in Busan, promote the branding of 'Busan as a Global Marine Leisure Tourism City,' and popularize yachting culture.

Celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, the Busan Super Cup International Yacht Race is the longest-running large yacht (cruiser) competition in Korea. A total of 34 teams (yachts) from 10 countries, with over 280 athletes, will compete in the races.

Participants will begin with pre-registration on April 24, followed by three days of racing from April 25 to April 27. On the first day of the competition, April 25, all teams will hold a one-hour maritime parade and a departure ceremony starting at 11:30 a.m. to commemorate the 20th anniversary.

A variety of side events will also take place. To allow the general public to experience the excitement of yacht racing up close, spectator boats will be operated. There will also be a commemorative T-shirt making event to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the competition. As part of a marine environment protection project, beverages will be provided to those who bring reusable cups (tumblers).

Citizens wishing to participate in the side events can apply through the official Instagram account of the Busan Super Cup International Yacht Race. The spectator boats can accommodate a total of 130 people, with five boats per trip. There will be four trips in total: one in the afternoon on April 25, one in the morning and one in the afternoon on April 26, and one in the morning on April 27.

Citizens who want to enjoy the races from the spectator boats can apply by leaving a supportive comment on the relevant Instagram post. Passengers will be selected by lottery. For more details, inquiries can be made by phone to the Busan Super Cup Organizing Committee Secretariat.

Kim Hyunjae, Director of Tourism and MICE at Busan City, stated, "This event goes beyond a yacht race to become a festival of marine leisure culture, allowing everyone to fully experience the beauty and dynamism of Busan's sea and yachts. We will strive to ensure that the Busan Super Cup International Yacht Race, with its reputation and tradition, enhances the status of Busan as a world-class marine leisure tourism city."
