The Ministry of National Defense announced that Military Reconnaissance Satellite No. 4 successfully established communication with the ground station as of 12:27 p.m. (Korea Standard Time) on April 22.
With this, the satellite constellation operation system has been further strengthened, now including Satellites No. 1, 2, and 3, which are already in normal operation. The ministry expects that the shortened revisit cycle of the satellites will enhance the military's ability to detect signs of provocations from North Korea.
The Ministry of National Defense stated, "The military will complete the launch of Satellite No. 5 within this year to achieve the satellite constellation operation goal. We will continue to secure satellite surveillance assets and expand our independent surveillance and reconnaissance capabilities."
