Application of Zero Energy and Other Building Standards Underway

On April 22, Asan City in South Chungcheong Province announced that it will invest approximately 200 billion won by 2027 to construct 11 new public buildings, including facilities for administration, sports, industry, welfare, and culture.
In the administrative sector, an administrative complex facility with one basement floor and two above-ground floors, covering a total floor area of 2,904 square meters, is scheduled for completion in Inju-myeon in June. In Yonghwa-dong, a new waterworks office building with a total floor area of about 4,000 square meters will also be constructed.
For sports facilities, the Bandabi Sports Center in Sirok-dong, with a total floor area of 3,452 square meters, and the Jangjae National Sports Center in Jangjae-ri, Baebang-eup, with a floor area of about 3,200 square meters, will both begin construction in the second half of this year and are expected to be completed in the second half of 2027.
In the industrial sector, a comprehensive support center for automotive semiconductors, with a total floor area of 4,431 square meters, will begin construction in Baebang-eup this month and is expected to be completed in the first half of 2027. Nearby, the Asan City Knowledge Industry Center, with a total floor area of 9,069 square meters, is also being planned.
In the welfare sector, a 2,300-square-meter Northern Kids and Moms Center will be built in Dunpo-myeon, a 2,980-square-meter Eastern Senior Welfare Center in Baebang-eup, and a 4,940-square-meter public funeral facility in Songak-myeon.
For cultural facilities, a 3,699-square-meter Western Public Library will be established in Sinchang-myeon, and a 4,424-square-meter Mojong Complex Cultural Space will be built in Mojong-dong.
The city is pursuing Zero Energy Building certification for all new buildings, and many are also preparing for Barrier-Free (BF), Green Building, and Passive Building certifications.
Mayor Oh Sehyun stated, "Public buildings will become not only spaces for providing administrative services but also essential infrastructure that adds value to citizens' daily lives. We will continue to actively incorporate citizens' opinions from the design stage, proceed without delays, and strive to contribute to balanced regional development and the creation of a high-quality urban environment."
