CI Tech Makes Full-Scale Entry into AI Healthcare Platform... "Transitioning to a Core Future Business"

CI Tech announced on April 22 that it will officially enter the artificial intelligence (AI)-based healthcare platform business. This move is part of a strategic shift aimed at overcoming stagnation in its existing kiosk business and enhancing corporate value over the mid- to long-term.

According to the Financial Supervisory Service's electronic disclosure system, CI Tech plans to hold an extraordinary general meeting of shareholders on June 9 to pursue amendments to its articles of incorporation. The new business objectives to be added include: ▲AI healthcare platform development and operation ▲AI healthcare content creation ▲AI healthcare data analysis and research support ▲AI healthcare mobile app development and sales ▲AI healthcare self-diagnosis services and sales ▲AI healthcare device manufacturing and sales ▲Other medical device manufacturing businesses.

The AI healthcare platform being promoted is a comprehensive, personalized health management solution. AI will analyze health data collected through various medical measurement devices, such as smartwatches, blood pressure monitors, and blood glucose meters. The focus is on linking this data with partner hospitals and medical professionals to improve the efficiency of medical services and foster a preventive healthcare environment.

CI Tech has grown primarily through the manufacturing and sales of hi-fi audio equipment and kiosks. However, due to the recent slowdown in the kiosk market, the need for business restructuring has emerged as performance has declined. In 2024, the company's standalone revenue was 18.1 billion KRW, a 4.3% decrease from the previous year, and it recorded an operating loss of 900 million KRW.

This entry into AI healthcare is more than simple business diversification; it is a structural response that seeks to transform into a high value-added new business by organically integrating the hospital infrastructure and ICT technology accumulated in its subsidiaries. A company representative stated, "AI healthcare will be intensively fostered as a core business group that will lead CI Tech's future," adding, "We plan to sequentially unveil an integrated healthcare service roadmap, covering platform development, device business, and content supply."
