Received "Excellent" Rating in the 2024 Performance Evaluation
Gumi Science Museum, which received an "Excellent" rating in the nationwide evaluation of the Lifelong Science Classroom program, has once again proven its status as the only operating center in the country by being selected for the 2025 Lifelong Science Classroom operation project for the ninth consecutive year.
On April 22, Gumi Science Museum announced that it had secured a total project budget of 100 million won?50 million won from the national government and 50 million won from the city?after being selected for the "2025 Lifelong Science Classroom Regional Operation Center" project, organized by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Creativity.
The Lifelong Science Classroom is a science culture promotion program jointly supported by the Ministry of Science and ICT, the Lottery Commission, the Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Creativity, and Gumi City. The program aims to bridge the gap in regional science education and make science easily accessible to all citizens.
Starting from April 21, Gumi Science Museum will officially launch a variety of customized science culture programs, including mobile science classrooms.
This year, the museum plans to provide science education and hands-on experience opportunities to a total of about 2,100 people across 36 institutions in the region.
Gumi Science Museum has played a leading role in spreading science culture by focusing on expanding the number of beneficiaries, strengthening support for underprivileged groups in the region, diversifying its programs, and enhancing their quality. These efforts were recognized in the 2024 nationwide Lifelong Science Classroom performance evaluation, where the museum was selected as one of the four top-performing institutions in the country.
An official from Gumi City stated, "The Lifelong Science Classroom has made a significant contribution to expanding the base of science culture and addressing educational blind spots," adding, "We will continue to support Gumi Science Museum so that it can maintain its central role in regional science education and cultural activities."
