One Worker Dies After Fall at Daegu Mixed-Use Construction Site

Fatal Fall from the 28th Floor
Possible Investigation under the Serious Accidents Punishment Act

A fatal accident occurred at a construction site where POSCO E&C is carrying out construction work.

According to the police and fire authorities on April 21, at approximately 10:58 a.m. that day, a worker identified as A, who was employed by a subcontractor of POSCO E&C, fell from the 28th floor at a mixed-use residential and commercial construction site in Sail-dong, Jung-gu, Daegu, and was transported to the hospital in cardiac arrest.

It is presumed that A fell while working on a safety net installation for an elevator. The police are currently investigating the exact circumstances of the accident.

The construction site where the accident occurred is part of the Daegu Department Store main branch site development project. POSCO E&C is responsible for the construction, which includes a total of 299 mixed-use apartment units and 56 officetel units. There is also a possibility of an investigation into whether the Serious Accidents Punishment Act was violated.
