The Department of Entertainment Arts at Dongmyung University (President Lee Sangcheon, Department Chair Lee Wooyoung) will host the "2025 2nd Dongmyung University President's Award Middle and High School Band Competition" on May 31.
To be eligible, bands must consist of at least three members and be able to perform both instrumental and vocal parts live. Applicants must fill out the application form (available on the Dongmyung University Department of Entertainment Arts website) and submit a preliminary round performance video between May 9 and May 19.
The final competition is scheduled for May 31, with awards including the Grand Prize (KRW 1,000,000), Excellence Award, Merit Award, and Encouragement Award. The finalists (approximately 10 teams) will be announced on May 21.
This competition is supported and co-organized by Ictus Entertainment, Edheart NGO, and Platform Small Library.
Professor Lee Wooyoung stated, "This is the only university president-level competition in Korea that targets youth band groups across the entire spectrum of popular music, and we are now holding it for the second time. We hope this will become a global music festival where domestic middle and high school students aged 12 to 18, out-of-school youth, and foreign or immigrant youth (TCK, Third Culture Kid) can come together and enjoy a variety of genres."
The Department of Entertainment Arts at Dongmyung University is the only program in the Busan-Ulsan-Gyeongnam region dedicated to training digital music producers and performance and broadcasting specialists. The department is also developing educational programs that combine artificial intelligence technology with sound production and arts engineering (AT), enabling students to explore a wide range of career paths related to digital content.
