This year's Climate Change Week slogan is "Let's Take Climate Action! Let's Adapt in Our Daily Lives!" The slogan emphasizes the importance of everyday actions and strengthening adaptation capabilities in response to the climate crisis.

Throughout the week, the province will carry out a variety of action-oriented campaigns aimed at raising awareness of climate change, expanding public consensus, and encouraging behavioral change across society.

First, on April 22, from 8:00 p.m. for 10 minutes, a lights-out event will be held simultaneously at 14 city and county government buildings, including Jeonbuk Provincial Government. This symbolic event is designed to remind people of the value of the Earth and reinforce the commitment to carbon neutrality. Residents are also encouraged to voluntarily participate by turning off lights at home.

In addition, in cooperation with the Jeonju Meteorological Office, a "Climate Change Photo Exhibition" will be held to visually convey the reality of the climate crisis. The exhibition will be open to the public free of charge in the first-floor lobby of the provincial government building from April 21 to April 25.

On April 25, Jeonbuk Provincial Government employees will join the carbon neutrality effort by enjoying a low-carbon meal together at the staff cafeteria. Since September 2023, the provincial government has designated the last Thursday of every month as "Vegetarian Day," offering a lacto-ovo menu.

In addition, various programs reflecting the characteristics of each region will be held in cities and counties throughout the province. Jeonju City will conduct a resource circulation campaign, including a donation event for used small appliances and toys, while Gunsan City will host an "Earth Love Poster Drawing Contest."

Jeongeup City will organize events such as a recycling exchange market to encourage eco-friendly practices in daily life. Alongside these events, educational and promotional activities for carbon neutrality will also be conducted in each region.

Song Geumhyeon, Director of the Environment and Forestry Bureau of the province, stated, "The climate crisis is no longer a distant future?it is a reality that threatens our lives today. I hope that this Climate Change Week will remind us all that small actions in our daily lives can bring about significant change, and that every resident will join in taking action for a sustainable Earth."
