The police expressed regret on the 21st regarding concerns raised over the fairness of the investigation involving "10 million-subscriber YouTuber" Tzuyang (real name Park Jeongwon).
At a regular briefing that day, an official from the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency stated, "We regret that controversy has arisen over the fairness of the investigation," and explained, "The case was reassigned and the investigator was replaced in order to make a comprehensive judgment."
The Gangnam Police Station reassigned the case in which Park filed charges against Kim for violating the Anti-Stalking Act and defamation to the Criminal Division 2 on the 18th.
On the 16th, Park appeared at the police station for questioning as the complainant in the stalking case, but left after about 40 minutes. Park's side claimed, "It appeared that the police did not consider Park to be a victim at all and seemed to have no intention of protecting the victim."
In July last year, Kim stated on his YouTube channel that "Tzuyang met her ex-boyfriend and former agency CEO at an adult entertainment bar as a customer and hostess, and started mukbang (eating broadcasts) afterward." As a result, Tzuyang's side filed a complaint against Kim for defamation under the Information and Communications Network Act, as well as for intimidation and coercion.
The police had previously cleared Kim of charges in February. However, Tzuyang's side filed an objection, and the prosecution accepted it, requesting a supplementary investigation from the police last month.
