Kim Kyeri Reveals Photo With Smiling Yoon Sukyeol, Calling Him "My Yoonbeoji"

Yoon Shares Meal with Impeachment Defense Team
Releases Photo with 44 Days Left Until Early Presidential Election
Kim Kyeri: "My First President, Yoonbeoji"

Kim Kyeri, a lawyer who served on former President Yoon Sukyeol's impeachment defense team and recently spearheaded the launch of the new party "Yoon Again," released a photo with the former president on April 19. With just 44 days left until the early presidential election in June, this move is being interpreted as an attempt to influence the conservative primary and the presidential race.

According to Kim's Facebook post on April 20, he wrote the previous day, "20250419. My first president whom I personally elected. Yoonbeoji (Father Yoon Sukyeol)," sharing the photo. Bae Uicheol, who also served on the impeachment defense team and joined Kim in founding the "Yoon Again" party, was present as well.

Previously, on April 17, some members of the impeachment defense team, including Kim and Bae, had announced a press conference to launch the new party. However, just four hours after the announcement, they postponed the event, stating, "We faced a barrage of pressure from the People Power Party throughout the day."

In their official statement canceling the "Yoon Again Party Proposal Press Conference," they conveyed, "The president's intention was that the spontaneous 'Yoon Again' movement among young people should manifest as political participation, and that he would support their genuine political activism as a father figure." The term "Yoonbeoji" appears to reflect this sentiment expressed by the former president.

During the final defense statement at the impeachment trial on February 25, Kim Kyeri drew significant attention by saying, "After confirming the wrongdoings committed by the Democratic Party, which I was unaware of due to pregnancy, childbirth, and childcare, I decided to devote my time with my child to take part in this case. I have been enlightened."

Opinions are divided within the People Power Party as well. Some argue that the party should distance itself from the former president, while others defend him, saying, "It is not right to keep attacking someone who is already politically dead."

Ahn Cheolsoo, a presidential primary candidate for the People Power Party, stated, "The resignation of an impeached former president is the minimum requirement for responsible politics," adding, "For the party's reform and victory in the presidential election, former President Yoon's resignation is inevitable." However, Hong Joonpyo, another presidential primary candidate, responded, "Our party brought about a change of government under his name, and now it would be like rubbing salt into the wounds of someone already politically dead." Addressing Ahn, he added, "You may think it's not a big deal because you've switched parties so many times, but we should focus on how we can unite and create the future together."
