Democratic Party's Five-Term Lawmaker Park Jiwon Shares Jeon Kwanghoon's Presidential Bid
"The Best of All Good News"
Park Jiwon, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, expressed his delight at the announcement of Pastor Jeon Kwanghoon of Sarang Jeil Church's presidential candidacy, calling it "the most welcome news." Pastor Jeon has defended the December 3 insurrection and has consistently opposed the impeachment of former President Yoon Seokyeol.
On the afternoon of April 19, Park, a five-term senior lawmaker of the Democratic Party, shared the news of Pastor Jeon's candidacy on his Facebook page, stating, "I judged that it would be too greedy to keep such welcome news to myself, so I am sharing it with the entire nation and ask for your applause. This is the best of all good news." He also wrote, "Yoon Seokyeol, the first member of the Free Unification Party! Yoon Again! Presidential candidate Jeon Kwanghoon."
Park Jiwon, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, welcomed Pastor Jeon Gwanghoon of Sarang Jeil Church, who has defended the December 3rd insurrection and opposed the impeachment of former President Yoon Seokyeol, calling his presidential candidacy announcement "the most welcome news."
On the same day, Pastor Jeon attended the "April 19 Gwanghwamun Revolution National Rally" organized by the Korean Movement for Correcting the Nation, which he leads, in the Gwanghwamun area of Jongno-gu, Seoul. There, he declared, "I will run as a presidential candidate." Pastor Jeon stated, "I am the only one who can carry out the dissolution of the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials, the Central Election Management Committee, the removal of Constitutional Court justices, and the dissolution of the National Assembly in Yeouido. That is why I am running for president."
He continued, "I will show you what I can do. If anyone is elected, it will be Lee Jaemyung, the Democratic Party's presidential primary candidate, but I will never allow any of the eight People Power Party candidates to win. We will show our presence." Regarding the former president, he asserted, "Even if I don't have the ability to make the next president, I do have the ability to prevent it," and boasted, "I will bring him into the Free Unification Party."

Previously, it was revealed that Bae Euicheol and Kim Gyeri, former attorneys for former President Yoon Seokyeol, have been preparing to launch a new party called "Yoon Again." Some members of the impeachment defense team, including them, had announced plans for a founding press conference on April 17, but postponed it just four hours later, citing "a barrage of pressure from the People Power Party throughout the day." Attorney Kim drew attention during Yoon Seokyeol's impeachment trial for stating, "I have been enlightened."
These developments are being viewed as negative factors for the broader conservative bloc ahead of the presidential election. For this reason, it appears that Park was quick to share the news, calling it "the best of all good news."
