The "My Rose Garden Support Project," which Pohang City has been promoting annually since 2019, is once again thriving this year with active citizen participation.

This project supports rose garden plans voluntarily established by citizens, making it a core initiative of the "citizen-led rose city development plan" centered on the rose, the city flower of Pohang.

In March, the city accepted applications through a public notice and reviewed factors such as public interest and the suitability of the proposed sites. As a result, 12 locations, including Yeonil Elementary School, were selected as this year's beneficiaries.

The selected organizations began planting roses on April 14, guided by experts.

The city provides participating organizations with four-season roses and fertilizer, as well as education and technical support necessary for planting and ongoing maintenance.

Each participating group will plant roses and continue to manage their gardens according to their own plans.

Since April 14, more than 300 people?including children such as elementary school students, parents, and local residents?have participated in the group planting events, demonstrating a deep affection for roses.

In particular, at the event held at Yeonil Elementary School on April 18, not only students, parents, and faculty but also local city and provincial council members and city officials took part, making the occasion even more meaningful.

Shin Kangsoo, head of the Green City Project Group, said, "What matters more than simply planting many roses is the continuous interest and participation of citizens. We will continue to work together with citizens to create Pohang, a city of ten million roses, where vitality fills the city and hope blooms in the hearts of its people."
