Revitalizing Exchanges Between Jeonnam and the Seoul Metropolitan Area
Leading Cooperation in Practicing Hometown Love
The Gwangju-Jeonnam Residents' Association held an executive training session in Yangju, Gyeonggi Province, on April 19, reaffirming their commitment to supporting their hometown this year as well.
Approximately 300 people attended the session, including Yang Kwangyong, President of the Gwangju-Jeonnam Residents' Association; Kang Yunseong, Honorary President; Park Chanmo, President of the City and County Council; as well as the presidents and members of each city and county chapter. They discussed various ways to contribute to the development of their hometown, Jeonnam.
In particular, they discussed collaborative projects such as the efforts to promote urban-rural exchanges between Jeonnam-born local government heads in the Seoul metropolitan area and Jeonnam Province, and the activities of the Gwangju-Jeonnam Hometown Rural Coexistence Solidarity (chaired by Honorary President Kang Yunseong), which was established by the association to promote the development of Jeonnam's agriculture and rural communities and to boost the consumption of agricultural and specialty products.
In addition, the 23 city and county branches of the Gwangju-Jeonnam Residents' Association pledged to actively participate in the 365 Donation Relay Campaign and the recruitment of Sarangae Supporters to help Jeonnam maintain its status as the number one region for hometown love donations for three consecutive years and to reach 600,000 Sarangae Supporters, thereby contributing to Jeonnam's development.
President Yang Kwangyong stated, "The urban-rural exchange cooperation agreement will serve as an opportunity to widely promote Jeonnam's excellent agricultural and specialty products in the Seoul metropolitan area," adding, "We will actively cooperate and build solidarity with the 14 local governments in the metropolitan area that have roots in Jeonnam, contributing to the mutual development of both regions."
Kang Kyungmoon, Director of the Hometown Love Division of Jeonnam Province, said, "I would like to express my deep gratitude to the Gwangju-Jeonnam Residents' Association for always taking the lead in the development of our hometown and for their generous support and encouragement."
