Park Kangsu, Mayor of Mapo District, attended the "1st Mapo Seo Yunbok Marathon" held on the morning of April 19 at the Peace Square in World Cup Park, Sangam-dong, Mapo District.
The "Seo Yunbok Marathon," held for the first time in Korea, was co-hosted by Mapo District and the Mapo District Sports Council, organized by the Seo Yunbok Memorial Project Committee and the Korea Federation of Sports for All, and sponsored by Soongmoon Middle and High School, Seo Yunbok's alma mater. The event was held to honor the great achievements of the late Seo Yunbok and to commemorate the history of marathon running.
On this day, participants ran passionate races along the 5km, 10km, and half marathon courses, starting from Peace Square.
In his opening remarks, Mayor Park Kangsu said, "I will do my best to ensure that the 'Seo Yunbok Marathon' continues the spirit of challenge and pride of Seo Yunbok and grows into an international event in the future," adding, "I hope all participants complete the race safely and without injury."
