Achieving Both Unity Among Members and Revitalization of the Local Economy
Gokseong County in South Jeolla Province (Governor Cho Sangrae) announced on April 19 that the Gokseong Train Village Traditional Market Merchants Association will host the "Hanmaeum Festival" on April 21.
The Gokseong Train Village Traditional Market Merchants Association has traditionally promoted unity among its members and acquired know-how by visiting advanced markets every year. However, this year, the association decided to hold the festival locally in order to revitalize the local commercial district and the traditional market, both of which have been struggling due to the economic downturn.
This festival, organized by the Traditional Market Merchants Association, will take place at the central stage inside the Gokseong Train Village Traditional Market. A variety of programs are planned, including congratulatory performances, a merchants' singing contest, Yutnori (a traditional Korean board game), and prize events.
Won Youngsoo, president of the Gokseong Train Village Traditional Market Merchants Association, stated, "The Hanmaeum Festival will not only strengthen unity among our members but also breathe new life into the local commercial district, achieving two goals at once. I hope all merchant members will fully enjoy the festival."
