Busan Regional Veterans Affairs Office Holds 65th Memorial Service for 4·19 Revolution Victims

The Busan Regional Veterans Affairs Office of the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs (Director Namil Lee) held a memorial service on April 18 at the 4·19 Revolution Victims' Memorial Enshrinement Hall in Democracy Park to honor the noble spirit of sacrifice of the 4·19 Revolution victims on the 65th anniversary of the 4·19 Revolution.


The memorial service was attended by approximately 40 people, including the Director of the Busan Regional Veterans Affairs Office, the head of the Busan branch of the 4·19 Revolution Victims' Families Association, the head of the Busan branch of the 4·19 Democratic Revolution Association, the head of the General Affairs Division of Busan City, and bereaved families. The ceremony proceeded in the following order: reading of the memorial address, Heonju and Jaebae, memorial speech, Jin Honmu performance, and floral tribute by the attendees.


The enshrinement hall houses the portrait photographs of 19 victims who lost their lives and 24 injured individuals who later passed away.


Namil Lee, Director of the Busan Regional Veterans Affairs Office, who attended the event, stated, "I hope that today's memorial service will serve as an opportunity to remember the noble spirit of sacrifice of those who contributed to the 4·19 Revolution and to reflect on the values of democracy. We also have a duty to carry on and put into practice the spirit of the 4·19 Revolution, ensuring that the sacrifices of the democratic activists who pursued the ideals of liberal democracy and social justice are not in vain."
