[Weather] Rain with Gusty Winds, Thunder, and Lightning Nationwide... Daytime Highs 15-28 Degrees

Weekend Weather Forecast
Rain Expected Nationwide,
Accompanied by Strong Winds and Thunder in Some Areas

On Saturday, the 19th, rain is expected in most regions nationwide, with precipitation continuing into the early hours of the following day in some areas. There may also be strong winds, thunder, and lightning accompanying the rain in certain locations.

According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, rain that begins in the morning in the Seoul metropolitan area and inland and mountainous areas of Gangwon is forecast to expand across the country by the afternoon. Rain will continue in the metropolitan area until late at night on this day, while other regions will see rain persist until the early morning of the 20th.

Expected precipitation amounts are as follows: 5 to 20 mm in Seoul, Incheon, and southwestern Gyeonggi; 5 to 30 mm in northeastern Gyeonggi; 5 to 40 mm in Gangwon Province; 5 to 20 mm in the Chungcheong region; 5 to 10 mm in the Jeolla region; 5 to 10 mm in the Gyeongsang region (less than 5 mm in Daegu and the central-southern inland areas of North Gyeongsang); and 5 to 20 mm in Jeju Island. There is also a possibility of rain mixed with yellow dust.

The Korea Meteorological Administration noted that, since the 15th, yellow dust originating from the Gobi Desert has been carried into the skies over Korea by northwesterly winds, which could lead to higher concentrations of fine dust in some regions. However, with the inflow of clean southerly air currents and the effects of precipitation, the concentration is expected to gradually decrease.

On the 19th, daytime high temperatures are expected to range from 15 to 28 degrees Celsius, which is 2 to 6 degrees higher than the seasonal average for the time being. On Sunday, the 20th, the temperature difference between day and night in inland areas of central Korea could reach up to 15 degrees, so caution is advised for health. Tomorrow's expected morning low temperatures are 8 to 16 degrees Celsius, and daytime highs are forecast to be 15 to 27 degrees Celsius.

Until around 10 a.m. on this day, dense fog with visibility of less than 200 meters is expected along the west and south coasts, with some other areas also experiencing fog that reduces visibility to less than 1 kilometer.

From the afternoon, winds over the distant central and northern parts of the East Sea are expected to strengthen significantly, reaching speeds of 30 to 60 kilometers per hour, and waves are forecast to be very high, ranging from 1.5 to 3.5 meters. Vessels navigating or operating in these waters should exercise caution.
