30 Billion Won for Agriculture and Forestry,
36 Billion Won for Regional Development,
17 Billion Won for the Environment, and More
Gokseong County in South Jeolla Province (Governor Cho Sangrae) announced on April 18 that it has drawn up its second supplementary budget proposal for 2025, totaling 504.9 billion won, and submitted it to the Gokseong County Council.
According to the county, the size of this year’s second supplementary budget is 504.9 billion won, an increase of 13.8 billion won (2.8%) compared to the first supplementary budget of 491.1 billion won. By account, the general account increased by 10.1 billion won (2%) to 476.8 billion won, and the special account increased by 3.7 billion won (15%) to 28.1 billion won. This supplementary budget reflects revenues such as revised national and provincial subsidies and net surplus from the 2024 fiscal year settlement.
The county explained that it prioritized expenditure on projects aimed at addressing residents’ daily inconveniences, including suggestions from last month’s dialogue with residents, and focused on regional development projects that can be launched in the first half of the year.
In addition, the county’s share of national and provincial subsidized projects was allocated by priority through departmental budget restructuring, and essential project costs for the completion of projects such as sewage works within the year were given priority.
Major projects included in the supplementary budget are 2.3 billion won for small-scale regional development projects and 1.6 billion won for the Gokseong-eup downtown revitalization project. By sector, 3 billion won is allocated to agriculture and forestry, 3.6 billion won to regional development, 1.7 billion won to the environment, 400 million won to culture and tourism, and 300 million won to general administration.
Governor Cho Sangrae stated, “Despite difficult financial conditions, this supplementary budget aims to accelerate the implementation of urgent local projects by allocating funds to areas directly related to residents’ livelihoods, such as regional development and agriculture and forestry. We will promptly execute the planned projects as soon as the budget is finalized to ensure there are no setbacks.”
Meanwhile, the second supplementary budget proposal for 2025 is scheduled to be finalized on May 9 after deliberation by the Special Committee on Budget and Accounts during the 272nd (extraordinary) session of the Gokseong County Council, which will be held starting April 28.
