Suwon Nambu Fire Station in Gyeonggi Province will conduct a special rescue training exercise from April 18 to 22 at Chilbosan Mountain in Suwon, with a total of 23 rescue team members participating, in preparation for mountain accidents during the spring season.
This training has been organized to strengthen on-site response capabilities for mountain accidents. The main components of the training include: education and familiarization with rescue methods for mountain accidents such as being stranded, slipping, and falling; hands-on training with equipment used in mountain rescues, such as ropes and descenders; practicing the use of drones to locate rescue targets and search for missing persons; and conducting patrols in high-risk mountain accident areas as well as inspecting and maintaining mountain guide signposts.
Ko Youngju, chief of Suwon Nambu Fire Station, stated, "With temperatures rising recently, more citizens are enjoying hiking in the spring, and as a result, the risk of mountain accidents is also expected to increase. Above all, it is important for hikers to maintain safe hiking habits and be thoroughly prepared."
