Chosun University announced on April 18 that it has signed a comprehensive Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the University of Maryland Baltimore Campus in the United States in the fields of medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, and nursing.


The signing ceremony, held on April 16 at the JW Marriott Hotel Business Center in Seoul, was attended by Kim Chunseong, President of Chosun University, Kim Eunae, Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Roger Ward, Vice President of the University of Maryland Baltimore Campus, Sarah Michel, Dean of the College of Pharmacy, and other key officials from both institutions.


Through this agreement, the two universities have agreed to strengthen cooperation in various areas, including: exchanges of faculty and researchers; student exchanges; training and student visits; sharing of academic information and materials; establishment of joint degree programs; development of joint research programs; and the formation of joint councils.


In particular, collaboration in the core health care fields of medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, and nursing is expected to further enhance the academic capabilities of both institutions.


Kim Chunseong, President of Chosun University, said, "The University of Maryland Baltimore Campus, with which we have signed this MOU, is a world-leading institution in the fields of public health, pharmaceuticals, and biotechnology. I hope that ongoing exchanges between the two universities will serve as a foundation for Chosun University to become Asia's No. 1 leading university in extending healthy life expectancy."


Wes Moore, Governor of Maryland, stated, "I hope that the signing of this MOU will serve as an opportunity not only for exchanges between the two universities but also for close cooperation with the state of Maryland. This collaboration will help nurture globally competitive talent, promote economic growth through the contributions of international students and research cooperation, and strengthen Maryland's academic programs."
