Hampyeong County, Jeollanam-do announced on April 18 that it has introduced smart agriculture technologies to address challenges in rural areas, such as an aging population and labor shortages, and to realize sustainable agriculture.
Recently, Hampyeong County supplied a total of 15 advanced robot sprayers and robot carriers to local farms in order to tackle the problems of an aging population and a shortage of rural labor.
This project is considered an example of agricultural technology innovation, as it introduces autonomous robot equipment based on wireless technology to improve the efficiency of farm work. It is expected to deliver tangible results, including reduced working hours and lower management costs.
Seo Jinkeun, head of the Technology Supply Division, stated, "With the distribution of these robotic devices, we will actively introduce advanced technologies to reduce the burden on farmers." He added, "We will address any improvements identified during the distribution process and continue to support the spread of technology and innovation in agriculture."
A county official said, "We will continue to promote customized agricultural support policies based on advanced technologies, in close collaboration with farmers."
