The Gwangju Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Chairman Han Sangwon) announced on the 18th that it held practical training on public procurement by inviting Executive Director Lee Sangmin of Plus Co., Ltd. in cooperation with Gwangju City.
The training, held in the large conference room on the 7th floor of the Gwangju Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the afternoon, was attended by about 90 executives and employees from companies in the Gwangju area. The program consisted of three parts: the first part covered practical training on electronic bidding, the second part focused on practical training for multiple supplier contracts, and the third part was a Q&A session. The training provided guidance on how to calculate bid amounts and how to increase the success rate of winning bids.
The public procurement market reached 196 trillion won in 2022, accounting for 9.8% of the nation's GDP, and has grown by 39% compared to 141 trillion won in 2018. The number of procurement companies increased by 42.7%, from 400,915 in 2018 to 572,118 in 2024. However, local small and medium-sized enterprises are facing difficulties entering the public procurement market, including the Nara Marketplace integrated shopping mall, due to a lack of information and related business capabilities.
In response, the Gwangju Chamber of Commerce and Industry organized this training to help local companies that are struggling to win orders due to the economic downturn. By enhancing their understanding and utilization of electronic bidding and multiple supplier contracts, the chamber aims to increase the success rate of public and private bids and expand public procurement delivery opportunities, thereby contributing to increased sales for local businesses.
