Promoting Safety Rules at 10 Major Stations Including Busan Station
Eight Organizations Cooperate to Spread Safety Culture at Platforms and Beyond
Busan Transportation Corporation (President Lee Byungjin) conducted a joint campaign on April 18 with seven related organizations at a total of 10 major stations, including Busan Station, Bujeon Station, Geoje Station, Railway Busan Station, and Donghae Line BEXCO Station. The campaign targeted urban railroad users and citizens to prevent safety accidents and raise safety awareness.
This campaign was organized to heighten public awareness of the various safety accidents that can occur while using urban railroads and to promote a culture of safe usage, including orderly boarding and disembarking and proper use of train doors.
The corporation has been continuously carrying out promotional activities to prevent accidents caused by user negligence?such as stepping into platform gaps or getting caught in train doors during boarding and disembarking, or falling while using escalators. These efforts are aimed at raising citizen awareness and promoting practical campaigns for the establishment of a safety culture throughout the entire urban railroad system.
On this day, related organizations including Korea Railroad Corporation, SR Co., Ltd., National Railroad Authority, Dong-gu District Office, Busan Facilities Corporation, Korea Transportation Safety Authority, and the Railroad Judicial Police participated in the campaign, uniting in their commitment to spreading a culture of safety in urban railroads.
The participating organizations provided focused guidance to citizens on urban railroad safety rules, such as: △watching out for platform gaps when boarding or disembarking △not getting hands or belongings caught in train doors △not rushing onto trains; and, when using escalators, △firmly holding the handrail △not walking or running △boarding within the yellow safety line △using elevators when carrying carts or walkers.
The corporation plans to continue strengthening cooperation with related organizations and conducting ongoing safety culture campaigns to prevent accidents that may occur while using urban railroads and to promote proper public transportation etiquette.
Lee Byungjin, President of Busan Transportation Corporation, stated, "I hope this joint campaign will make a real contribution to improving safety awareness and preventing accidents among citizens using the urban railroad," adding, "We will take the lead in creating a safe and convenient urban railroad environment through close cooperation with related organizations."
