Noh Jinseong, Gwangju Dong-gu District Council Member, Proposes Ordinance
A legal basis has been established to support the development of the regional AI industry as a future industry in Dong-gu, Gwangju.
Noh Jinseong, a member of the Dong-gu District Council in Gwangju, announced on the 18th that the "Ordinance on the Promotion and Support of the Artificial Intelligence Industry in Dong-gu, Gwangju" has passed the standing committee review.
Dong-gu, Gwangju is already pursuing projects such as the creation of an AI healthcare startup complex center and the establishment of a self-health management platform in response to the increasing number of single-person households. However, there have been claims that there is a lack of legal grounds to support various changes.
In response, Councilor Noh proposed this ordinance to lay the foundation for future industries in Dong-gu and to contribute to revitalizing the local economy through systematic development and support of the artificial intelligence industry. The main contents include the establishment and implementation of a basic plan every five years, as well as providing grounds to support various AI-related fields, such as attracting and fostering promising AI companies or research institutes.
Councilor Noh stated, "The artificial intelligence industry is a core growth engine for the future and a high value-added industry. I hope that by proactively and systematically fostering and supporting related industries, this will serve as an opportunity to attract young people and create jobs."
