Soongsil University announced on the 19th that Jiun Oh, a graduate student at the Graduate School of Social Welfare, received the 'Ucheon Award' at the '19th National Social Workers' Day Conference'.
The National Social Workers' Day Conference, now in its 19th year, is the largest social welfare event in Korea, hosted by the Korea Association of Social Workers and sponsored by the Ministry of Health and Welfare. Each year, about 1,000 social workers and related professionals from across the country attend to share key issues in the field of social welfare.
The 'Ucheon Award' was jointly established by the Ucheon Welfare Foundation and the Korea Association of Social Workers to discover social workers with 15 years or less of experience who embody the future of the profession and to encourage their continued growth.
Oh was selected as the recipient in recognition of her work as Secretary General of the School Social Workers' Association, where she has operated a variety of programs to improve the welfare of children and adolescents in schools, and for her contributions to strengthening the foundation of social welfare practice through nationwide education and training activities.
Oh stated, "I am grateful that my efforts for the development of school social welfare have been recognized," adding, "With this award as motivation, I will continue to grow with an even greater sense of responsibility."
