Chuncheon City Accelerates Administrative Innovation with Generative AI and Public Data

Aiming to Establish Interdepartmental Collaboration and Develop Citizen-Oriented Digital Services

On April 18, Chuncheon City in Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province (Mayor: Yuk Donghan) held the 'AI and Data Consulting Service Kickoff Meeting' in the medium conference room at City Hall, marking the official start of its efforts toward digital-based administrative innovation.

This meeting signaled the launch of a project aimed at establishing an efficient administrative system by utilizing generative artificial intelligence (AI) technology and public data, as well as promoting data-driven decision-making.

Through AI consulting, Chuncheon City plans to foster an AI-based culture within its administration by identifying and demonstrating (PoC) core tasks for the adoption of generative AI, hosting an AI idea competition, and providing administrative competency training for staff.

In the area of data consulting, the city will develop systematic measures to revitalize administrative data, including establishing a data quality management system, preparing strategies for data-driven policy utilization, and formulating response strategies for evaluations by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.

During the meeting, the project contractor presented plans for each consulting task, and a Q&A session was held to gather feedback and establish a collaborative system among relevant departments.

A Chuncheon City official stated, "This kickoff meeting provided an opportunity to share the blueprint for administrative innovation and to strengthen interdepartmental collaboration," adding, "We will do our utmost to ensure these efforts lead to tangible digital administrative achievements that citizens can experience."

Meanwhile, the consulting project is divided into two areas: consulting for establishing an administrative foundation utilizing generative AI (project budget: 120 million won, duration: 4 months) and consulting for revitalizing public data and data-driven administration (project budget: 200 million won, duration: 7 months). Both will run until November this year.
