Osan City Conducts Infection Control Consulting for Vulnerable Facilities

Targeting Nursing Homes and Adult Day Care Centers

On April 18, the city of Osan in Gyeonggi Province announced that it will conduct on-site "infection control consulting" to strengthen infection prevention capabilities at facilities vulnerable to infectious diseases.

Osan City Conducts Infection Control Consulting for Vulnerable Facilities

This consulting initiative is a proactive measure by the city to establish an autonomous and sustainable infectious disease response system at facilities vulnerable to infection. The primary targets for consulting are elderly care facilities, such as nursing homes and adult day care centers, where elderly individuals and those with chronic illnesses reside for extended periods.

From this month until September, for approximately six months, epidemiological investigators who have completed specialized training in infectious disease response will visit local facilities to provide systematic consulting. The consulting will cover: ▲ inspection of infection control organizations and systems ▲ assessment of infection control levels at each facility and suggestions for improvement ▲ training on the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) ▲ guidance on environmental and equipment disinfection procedures ▲ infectious disease prevention education for staff, among other topics.

Following the consulting, the city plans to provide follow-up feedback and counseling to ensure practical improvements can be made according to the status and needs of each facility, thereby enhancing the effectiveness of infectious disease prevention.

Ko Donghun, head of the Osan City Public Health Center, stated, "We will continue to strengthen our field-oriented infectious disease response system to create a public health environment where all citizens can feel safe."
