"Once More Condensing: Rediscovery of Value" Exhibition
Upcycling Discarded Boilers into Works of Art
Collaboration with Seoul Saeulhyang Plaza to Promote Eco-Friendly Values
Kyungdong Navien announced on the 18th that it will hold the exhibition "Once More Condensing: Rediscovery of Value" together with Seoul Saeulhyang Plaza. The exhibition, held at "Seoul Saeulhyang Plaza" located in Seongdong-gu, Seoul until the end of July, showcases various works reborn through students' creativity using end-of-life condensing boilers.
Seoul Saeulhyang Plaza is an institution operated by the Seoul Design Foundation under the Seoul Metropolitan Government, serving as an upcycling complex cultural space that supports resource circulation and the spread of upcycling culture. Kyungdong Navien and Seoul Saeulhyang Plaza collaborated to convey the meaning of "upcycling" through the eco-friendly value of condensing boilers. Condensing boilers recover and recycle heat wasted during the combustion process, reducing gas consumption by 19% compared to conventional boilers, and lowering nitrogen oxides and carbon monoxide emissions by 87% and 70%, respectively.
This exhibition is a newly opened version of the "Once More Condensing: Rediscovery of Value" exhibition held by Kyungdong Navien in Insadong in January this year. In September last year, Kyungdong Navien held a contest for students of the Department of Metal Crafts at Kookmin University to transform discarded boilers into new works. A total of 20 teams submitted 41 works, all of which can also be seen at this Saeulhyang Plaza exhibition. The representative work is "A Shelter Embracing Warmth" by the "Upbo" team, which won the grand prize. They created a chair from the boiler’s outer cover, recreating the warmth provided by the condensing boiler as a chair offering rest in daily life.
A Kyungdong Navien official stated, "Apart from the exhibition, we will carry out various campaigns together with citizens, such as producing upcycling works using discarded boilers in collaboration with Saeulhyang Plaza."
