Various Hands-on Experiences and Performances
Planned for the Children's Day Holiday
The 17th Gongju Seokjangni Paleolithic Festival, Korea's representative prehistoric cultural festival, will be held for four days from May 3 to May 6 at the Gongju Seokjangni Museum and the Sangwang-dong area.
According to the city on the 18th, this year's festival, held under the theme "Seokjangni, Into the Paleolithic World!", will feature a variety of hands-on experiences and performance programs for families to enjoy during the Children's Day holiday.
The performance "Seokjangni, The Great Excavation," which highlights the value of Paleolithic relics, and the expert talk program "Seokjangni, In-Depth Look," will offer visitors engaging stories about prehistoric life, culture, and excavation discoveries.
There will also be a range of educational and playful content, including the children's quiz program "Challenge! Paleolithic King Golden Bell," the "Paleolithic Hunting Pick" experience incorporating ancient hunting techniques, a children's job experience center, and an archaeologist excavation activity.
On Children's Day, May 5, there will be special performances such as a Taekwondo demonstration and a family-participation random dance event.
The Seokjangni Museum will also host a special exhibition, "Stone Tool Resume: Tools for Working with Leather," introducing the actual uses of Paleolithic tools.
Mayor Choi Woncheol said, "The Seokjangni Paleolithic Festival is a living educational venue where families can experience history and culture together," and encouraged many to participate.
