Suwon City Conducts Sample Inspection of Incineration Household Waste... Until May 29

The city of Suwon in Gyeonggi Province will conduct sampling inspections on incineration-bound household waste brought into the resource recovery facility.

On the 18th, Suwon City announced that the sampling work for incineration-bound household waste, which began on the 15th, will be carried out 11 times until May 29. The sampling will involve public officials, resident representatives, and resident monitoring personnel of the Suwon Resource Recovery Facility. They will open volume-based waste bags collected from 44 neighborhoods to inspect the contents.

If the disposed household waste contains recyclables or does not meet the intake standards, administrative measures will be taken.

If violations of the standards are detected, a 'first warning' will be issued, and if non-compliance cases continue after the first warning, intake suspension for three days or more will be imposed.

Suwon City operates a dedicated task force to crack down on illegal dumping, monitors non-standard bags, and detects mixed disposal of recyclables in volume-based waste bags. Fines are imposed according to the Waste Management Act upon detection.

A Suwon City official stated, "When we open volume-based waste bags, 30-40% of the contents are vinyl," adding, "If vinyl waste alone is properly separated and disposed of, it is expected that the reduction target will be achieved."

Meanwhile, Suwon City is promoting various waste reduction policies with the goal of "each citizen reducing 30g of waste per day."
