Three Individuals Referred Without Detention for Violence Near the Constitutional Court

Three individuals accused of assaulting police officers or citizens near the Constitutional Court ahead of the impeachment trial verdict of former President Yoon Seok-yeol have been referred to the prosecution.

On the 18th, the Jongno Police Station in Seoul announced that they had sent a woman in her 50s, identified as A, on charges of assault, and a woman in her 60s, B, and a man in his 40s, C, on charges of obstructing official duties, without detention on the 2nd.


A is accused of assaulting a female victim involved in an altercation in front of the Constitutional Court in Jongno-gu, Seoul, around 3:30 p.m. on the 20th of last month.


B was arrested on the spot for kicking two female police officers maintaining order in front of the Constitutional Court around 3:45 p.m. on the 21st of last month, and C was arrested one minute later at the same location for pushing two male police officers maintaining order with his elbows.


Although the incidents occurred near the Constitutional Court, the three cases were found to be unrelated to each other.


A police official stated, "We conducted a swift and strict investigation to maintain order in front of the Constitutional Court."
