Gyeonggi-do Accepts Two Government Proposals Including Improvement of Security Guards' Working Conditions... Amendment to Take Effect on 15th

Gyeonggi Province's two proposed policies aimed at promoting eco-friendly energy through efficient use of space in apartment complexes and improving the working conditions of security guards have been realized with the acceptance by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.

Gyeonggi Province announced on the 18th that the "Enforcement Decree of the Apartment Housing Management Act," which includes these provisions, was amended and enforced on the 15th.

According to the amendment, when installing solar power facilities in apartment complexes, previously the consent of two-thirds or more of the residents was required, but now installation is possible with the consent of more than half of the residents. As a result, solar power facilities can be installed with the agreement of only half of the residents, simplifying the installation process and expected to further promote the spread of renewable energy.

Regarding the installation of rest facilities for security guards, previously it was not possible to install worker rest facilities utilizing pilotis spaces within apartment complexes, but following Gyeonggi Province's proposal, the decree was amended to allow the expansion of worker rest facilities in pilotis spaces if consent is obtained from two-thirds or more of the residents. This is evaluated as an opportunity to substantially improve the working environment for workers within apartment complexes.

Hong Il-young, Director of the Apartment Housing Division of Gyeonggi Province, said, "We have continuously pursued institutional improvements to enhance the quality of life for residents and efficiently utilize energy and space," adding, "We will continue to expand life-centered policies that residents can directly feel."
