SBC, 'Digital Transformation Business Agreement' to Revitalize Local Commercial Districts

1:1 Customized Education Using Digital Tutors and More

The Small Enterprise and Market Service (SEMAS) announced on the 18th that it has signed a 'Digital Transformation Support Project Business Agreement' with Kakao and Together Making the World to revitalize local commercial districts.

The signing ceremony was held at Kakao Pangyo Ajit in Bundang-gu, Seongnam City, with key officials from each organization attending, including Ahn Tae-yong, Vice President of SEMAS, Kwon Dae-yeol, Chairman of Kakao ESG Committee, and Kim Yong-duk, Chairman of the Social Solidarity Bank.


The organizations agreed to collaborate on ▲promoting digital transformation projects for local commercial districts ▲implementing 1:1 customized digital education using digital tutors ▲supporting promotion such as live commerce to revitalize local commercial districts ▲supporting the establishment of 'indoor maps' on the Kakao Map app for traditional markets ▲and other projects aimed at revitalizing traditional markets and shopping districts.


Since 2022, SEMAS and Kakao have supported digital education and online/offline marketing for over 2,800 merchants in 212 traditional markets and 15 local commercial districts nationwide, starting with the 'Dangol Market' project and establishing the 'Dangol Street' project in 2023, continuing through 2024.


From this year, the Dangol Market and Dangol Street projects will be integrated into a regional commercial district digital transformation project, focusing on digital education, marketing, and promotional support for small business owners in markets and shopping districts to revitalize local commercial areas. Kakao's Dangol Supporters will be dispatched to local commercial districts and traditional markets to provide online and offline sales channel linkage support education for small business owners, as well as to promote various online and offline events to create and raise awareness of Dangol Streets and Dangol Markets linked to local characteristics.


Park Sung-hyo, Director of SEMAS, stated, "Local commercial districts, including traditional markets and shopping districts, must change in line with the era of digital transformation. Through this agreement, we will provide customized education for small business owners who face difficulties in utilizing digital tools and support various marketing activities to contribute to the revitalization of local commercial districts."
