Korean Players Struggle in Corales Puntacana Championship Round 1
Dahmen Leads by Two Shots, Wallace and Mitchell Share Second Place

Korean players finished in the lower ranks.


Kang Sung-hoon shot 1-under 71 in the first round of the PGA Tour Corales Puntacana Championship (total prize money $4 million) held on the 17th (local time) at Corales Golf Course (par 72, 7,670 yards) in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, placing him in a tie for 80th. This tournament is held simultaneously for players who do not qualify for the RBC Heritage, where 72 players compete without a cut.

Kang Sung-hoon made 3 birdies and 2 bogeys. Starting at the 10th hole (par 4), he exchanged 1 birdie and 1 bogey over 11 holes. He gained momentum with consecutive birdies on the 3rd and 4th holes but made a bogey on the final 9th hole (par 3) after his tee shot landed in a greenside bunker. No Seung-yeol also recorded 2 birdies and 2 bogeys, failing to lower his score, tying for 97th place (even par 72).


Joel Dahmen (USA) surged with a 10-under 62 to take a two-stroke lead. Matt Wallace (England) and Keith Mitchell (USA) both finished the first round tied for second at 8-under 64. Kim Chan (USA) is tied for 19th at 5-under 67.
