Chungnam Province Ranks High in Gender Equality Index Among 17 Regions... No.1 Nationwide in Caregiving Sector

Ranked Among Top Regions Alongside Seoul, Daejeon, Sejong, and Jeju in Ministry of Gender Equality and Family Assessment

Chungnam Province announced on the 17th that it has been ranked in the top tier in the '2025 Regional Gender Equality Index Assessment' released by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family.

The Gender Equality Index is surveyed and published annually by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family in accordance with the Framework Act on Gender Equality, to assess the level of gender equality. The 17 metropolitan and provincial regions are graded into four levels: upper, upper-middle, lower-middle, and lower, based on various indicators.

In this assessment, the province was ranked among the top alongside Seoul, Daejeon, Sejong, and Jeju.

This achievement is attributed to the implementation of policies such as strengthened care through the Full Care Policy since the launch of the 8th civil administration, operation of the Chungnam Family Center, and region-specific gender equality education for residents.

In particular, the province ranked first nationwide in the care sector and sixth nationwide in the income sector over the past three years, earning a top-tier grade.

A provincial official stated, "This achievement is the result of the development of gender equality policies and projects that the province has been pursuing," adding, "We will continue to cooperate with cities and counties to build a gender-equal Chungnam that reflects a gender-sensitive perspective."
