Selected for Jeollanam-do's Old Tourist Site Regeneration Project
New Attractions Including Play Facilities and Water Play Zone
"Reborn as a Customized Tourist Destination for All Generations"
Hong Gil-dong Theme Park in Jangseong-gun, Jeollanam-do, will be newly renovated through an old tourist site regeneration project.
Jangseong-gun announced on the 17th that it was selected for Jeollanam-do's "Old Tourist Site Regeneration Project" and secured a total project budget of 1.2 billion KRW, including provincial funding.
Through this project, the county plans to introduce complex play facilities, a water play zone, and hands-on content within the theme park, creating a tourist destination that can cater to all generations. Accordingly, customized facilities will be installed for a wide range of age groups, from teenagers to middle-aged and elderly visitors, while also establishing maintenance and management plans for existing content.
Hong Gil-dong Theme Park, located in Agok-ri, Hwangryong-myeon, is a themed tourist attraction based on the historical figure Hong Gil-dong. It features the birthplace of Hong Gil-dong, a wild vegetable experience center, a camping site, and traditional Hanok accommodations (Cheongbaek Hanok), with spacious outdoor areas harmonized with the natural environment of Chukryeongsan Mountain.
However, since its opening in 2004, the facilities have gradually deteriorated, and the need for refurbishment has been continuously raised.
Kim Han-jong, the county governor, said, "Starting with the regeneration of Hong Gil-dong Theme Park, we will continue to improve and enhance the content competitiveness of Jangseong's major tourist attractions."
