Utilizing 85% of Uljin County's Area as Forest Resources
Governor Son Byungbok Calls for Profitable Forestry Management
On the 16th, Son Byungbok, Governor of Uljin County, North Gyeongsang Province, actively encouraged forestry workers at a forestry site and took steps to strengthen communication with future leaders in the forestry industry.
This visit to the forestry site included a tour of farms cultivating Eumnamu and Chopi trees, which have been supported through the establishment of production infrastructure for income-generating forestry. The visit provided an opportunity to directly assess the project's achievements and the actual farming conditions.
In addition, a meeting was held in Jukbyeon-myeon with over 20 participants, including Lee Chunhyeong, president of the Uljin County Successors of Forestry Association. During the meeting, forestry workers requested support for the production and distribution of forest products, as well as active assistance for reforestation with income-generating tree species in areas affected by forest fires.
From 2023 to 2025, Uljin County is supporting 10.5 hectares of Chopi trees for 59 farms and 22.6 hectares of Eumnamu for 103 farms as alternative crops to pine mushrooms lost in the Uljin forest fires, aiming to increase the income of forestry workers.
Governor Son Byungbok stated, "Through this field visit, I was able to directly hear the voices of forestry workers and once again confirm that 'the answer lies in the field.' We will do our utmost to devise ways for forestry workers to make the best use of the forest resources, which account for 85% of Uljin County's total area, and to promote income-generating forestry."
