Directly Selected by Staff Proposals and Votes
"Changing Begins with Simple Greetings"
Campaign Launched to Improve Organizational Culture
The National Gwangju Science Museum has established and announced the "Seven Principles of Mutual Respect" through a vote participated in by all employees.
On the 16th, the museum stated that on the 11th, in celebration of "Mutual Respect Day," a voluntary vote was held based on ideas proposed by all staff, resulting in the selection of the final seven principles. The significance was heightened by the fact that employees themselves created the standards and built consensus to improve organizational culture.
The selected principles include: "Expressing respect through simple greetings," "Giving and receiving feedback with positive language," "Making gratitude a habit," "Thinking of differences as just that, not as mistakes," "Acknowledging mistakes and apologizing," "Refraining from speaking in an irritated tone," and "Greeting with a bright expression and making eye contact."
The museum plans to promote these principles through a campaign linked to the "Integrity and Mutual Respect Culture Week" and to share the guidelines internally to encourage their daily practice.
Kim Yeonhwa, an administrative officer from the audit team, said, "The principles are especially meaningful because they were proposed and selected by the staff themselves," and added, "We will continue to improve our organizational culture with a focus on employees."
The Gwangju Science Museum designates the 11th of every month as "Mutual Respect Day." This year, as part of ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management, the museum is also pursuing ethics- and human rights-centered policies such as human rights impact assessments and the operation of a Human Rights Management Committee.
