Gijang Seaweed and Kelp Experience Event
at Idong Port, Ilgwang-eup
Gijang-gun, Busan will hold the '12th Gijang Seaweed and Kelp Festival' from the 18th to the 20th at Idong Port in Ilgwang-eup, organized by the Gijang Seaweed and Kelp Festival Promotion Committee (Chairman Lee Jeongdong).
This year’s festival will feature programs that everyone can experience and enjoy, including ▲hands-on activities to touch and harvest seaweed and kelp ▲surprise auctions for seaweed and kelp ▲free tastings of seaweed and kelp ▲a fireworks show over the sea ▲a flea market ▲various celebratory performances by invited singers such as Na Taejoo, Moon Yeonju, Park Seongon, and Min Hee.
County Mayor Jeong Jongbok said, "I hope many people will visit this year’s Seaweed and Kelp Festival to experience firsthand the excellence of Gijang’s premium seaweed and kelp, and enjoy the diverse sights and activities offered."
Gijang seaweed and kelp are cultivated in the clean waters off Gijang, where the currents are swift and organic matter is abundant. They are known for their outstanding antioxidant and immune-boosting properties, and are especially beneficial for postpartum recovery. Historically, their exceptional taste was so renowned that they were even served at the royal table.
