SBTL Advanced Materials recently announced on the 17th that it has been solely selected by the government as the 'leading business operator in the pouch film sector' and has been included as a strategic core item for support.
Accordingly, SBTL Advanced Materials will receive benefits such as research and development (R&D) cost support through the government’s supply chain stabilization fund.
The pouch film produced by SBTL Advanced Materials is an outer material for secondary batteries used in electric vehicles, ESS (Energy Storage Systems), and mobile phones, serving to block external moisture and protect against impact.
SBTL Advanced Materials has attracted attention by achieving results in high value-added material technology, including the development of ultra-high forming pouch films and pouch films for all-solid-state batteries.
In particular, durability that can withstand high temperature and high pressure processes is key for pouch films used in all-solid-state batteries. SBTL Advanced Materials has developed ultra-high durability pouch films that can endure pressures exceeding 300 MPa (megapascals).
Currently, the company has begun developing customized products with adjusted performance according to customer demands and is on the verge of commercialization. Leveraging government support, SBTL Advanced Materials plans to expand its second factory.
Cheon Sang-wook, CEO of SBTL Advanced Materials, stated, "This achievement symbolizes the technological independence of the K-battery industry and the strengthening of supply chain stability," adding, "We will actively participate in the global supply chain restructuring process with world-class technology."
