Manchester United (Man Utd), an English professional football Premier League (EPL) team struggling this year, has asked McIlroy for support. On the 16th (local time), coach R?ben Amorim released a video message addressed to McIlroy. Coach Amorim expressed his hope that McIlroy would come to Old Trafford, Man Utd's home stadium, holding the Masters championship trophy.
Man Utd is facing the risk of finishing this season with the lowest points total in its history due to underperformance. With six matches remaining, the team is in 14th place (38 points) with 10 wins, 8 draws, and 14 losses. Even if they win all remaining matches, the maximum points they can reach is 56. Coach Amorim said, "This is a truly critical time for our team," adding, "You have accomplished what many thought impossible. We want to feel that kind of spirit at our home stadium as well."
McIlroy is an ardent fan of Man Utd. His encouraging visit to Old Trafford is highly likely to happen. Before receiving Coach Amorim's video message, McIlroy responded to the question, "Would you go to support Man Utd's home game wearing the green jacket?" by saying, "If it helps them gain strength, I would gladly go."
