Democratic Party Postpones Re-Impeachment of Han Deok-su for Now
"We Will Rely on the Role of Public Opinion Within Democratic Order"
The Constitutional Court ruled to suspend the effect of the nomination of Han Deok-su, Acting President and Prime Minister, as a Constitutional Court Justice. In response, the Democratic Party's floor leadership raised their voices in criticism, demanding that he "apologize profusely." Within the party, there are calls to re-impeach Acting President Han, but for now, they have decided to hold off.

At the Democratic Party policy coordination meeting held at the National Assembly in Yeouido on the 17th, Park Chan-dae, Acting Party Leader and Floor Leader, referred to the Constitutional Court's ruling, stating, "Acting President Han must withdraw his nomination for Constitutional Court Justice and apologize profusely to the people for his unconstitutional actions."
Park added, "The Prime Minister, who should manage the presidential election fairly, is abusing his authority and fueling rumors of candidacy, thereby undermining political neutrality. I hope Acting President Han will perform his duties properly from now on."
Within the party, there are voices calling for the impeachment of Acting President Han, but the Democratic Party has decided to postpone the timing. After the policy coordination meeting, Floor Spokesperson Noh Jong-myeon told reporters, "No impeachment motion has been filed against Acting President Han, and it should be seen as being on hold. While the grounds for impeachment are clear, the decision to hold off is understood as a process of patience and restraint."
Regarding this, Spokesperson Noh further explained, "Although there are opinions within the party that impeachment is necessary due to the seriousness of the issues, we are exercising restraint based on trust in the people's judgment and the democratic order where public oversight functions, believing in the role of the people and public opinion."
