The Korea Federation of Banks Supports 100 Million Won for Myanmar Earthquake Damage Recovery

Donation Campaign Launched

The Korea Federation of Banks announced on the 17th that it will donate 100 million won through the Korean Red Cross to support the recovery efforts in the Mandalay region of Myanmar, which was severely affected by the recent earthquake.

This support will be carried out in the form of a public participation donation campaign using the Korea Federation of Banks' social contribution platform, 'Bankit.' The campaign will run for two weeks starting from the 17th. Anyone wishing to donate can participate easily by liking, sharing, or commenting. Each 'like' and 'share' will result in a 10,000 won donation, and each comment will result in a 20,000 won donation, funded by the banking sector.

Once the target amount of 100 million won is reached, the Korea Federation of Banks will deliver the donation through the Korean Red Cross, which will be used for emergency relief activities such as procuring relief supplies and providing medical support for the disaster victims.

During the April 2023 earthquake in T?rkiye, the Korea Federation of Banks also raised approximately 52 million won through the Bankit online campaign and delivered it to AFAD (Disaster and Emergency Management Authority of T?rkiye).

Cho Yong-byeong, Chairman of the Korea Federation of Banks, said, "We extend our deepest condolences to those who lost their lives and to the people of Myanmar who lost their homes due to this unexpected disaster. We hope this donation will contribute in some small way to the swift reconstruction of the affected areas and the restoration of daily life for the residents. Going forward, the Korea Federation of Banks and domestic banks will continue to fulfill their humanitarian solidarity and social responsibilities in response to domestic and international disasters."
