Citizen-Centered Policies and Regional Characteristics Reflected
Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju, is embarking on designing human rights policies for a "city where people live with dignity." To this end, a kick-off briefing was held on the 16th for the establishment of the "3rd Basic Plan for Human Rights Policy."
This basic plan for human rights policy serves as a comprehensive blueprint that sets the direction for human rights policies reflecting the lives and environments of local residents. The district aims to include measures to enhance the level of human rights for citizens and to increase the effectiveness of its policies.

The kick-off briefing began with an explanation of the project by Kim Jungkyu, the lead researcher from the Honam University Industry-Academic Cooperation Group, who is in charge of the study. This was followed by a Q&A session and discussions. A meeting of the Human Rights Protection and Promotion Committee was also held, allowing for in-depth discussions on the establishment of the plan.
Through this plan, Gwangsan-gu will promote: ▲the establishment of human rights policies that citizens can truly feel, ▲sector-specific action plans reflecting regional characteristics, and ▲the development of representative policies for domestic and international human rights exchanges. In particular, the district plans to derive effective policies through human rights surveys targeting public officials and citizens, as well as expert consultations.
The research project will be conducted over 150 days starting from today, with the results expected to be released in early September.
