Stretching Practice Sessions for Sanitation Workers to Be Held Four Times Starting April 18
Health Lifestyle Exercise Prescription Specialist to Introduce On-the-Job Exercise Methods
Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) will conduct industrial safety and health education on stretching and exercise methods for sanitation workers employed by local cleaning agencies starting from the 18th.
Sanitation workers are prone to musculoskeletal disorders due to repetitive tasks and strenuous postures. The education focuses on proper postures and stretching methods before and after work for the workers.
The training will be held four times in total?on April 18, 25, May 16, and June 27?at the 12th-floor auditorium of the district office, with sessions organized by cleaning agencies. The participants include sanitation workers, landfill transport drivers, excavator operators, and safety managers.
A health lifestyle exercise prescription specialist will lead the lectures, focusing on movements that sanitation workers can easily practice in daily life. Participants will learn cardiovascular, strength-building, aerobic, balance exercises, and stretching using bodyweight or chairs to help prevent injuries and accidents.
A district official stated, "We hope that this safety education will help reduce fatigue during work and relieve muscle tension for sanitation workers, preventing common physical problems such as back pain."
Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, said, "As sanitation workers strive to maintain a clean urban environment, we will continue to support them so they can work in a healthy and safe environment."
Meanwhile, the district is promoting various support projects to improve the working conditions of sanitation workers, including musculoskeletal support equipment, electric transport vehicle assistance, vertical exhaust pipes for cleaning vehicles, and comprehensive health checkup subsidies.
