"Please understand even if my Korean is not perfect. Nice to meet you. I am happy to be here with you all."
As the band Coldplay greeted the audience in Korean, the powerful cheers of 50,000 spectators heated up Goyang Stadium.
Coldplay, who first performed on a domestic stage at the Seoul Olympic Main Stadium in 2017, returned after 8 years. On the 16th, Coldplay held their Korea concert 'Music of the Spheres Delivered by DHL' (LIVE NATION PRESENTS COLDPLAY: MUSIC OF THE SPHERES DELIVERED BY DHL) at Goyang Sports Complex Stadium and met with local fans.
Formed in London in 1997, Coldplay is considered one of the greatest bands of the 21st century, having sold over 100 million albums including 10 studio albums. They have also built a strong fan base in Korea. This Korea tour was sold out for four shows on the 16th, 18th, 19th, and 22nd of this month, with additional performances scheduled for the 24th and 25th.
On this day, Coldplay opened with "Higher Power." "Boom boom boom. Boom boom boom boom boom." The bass drum and electric guitar rhythms continuously pounded the hearts of the audience. Keeping the momentum, they passionately sang hit songs such as "Paradise," "The Scientist," "Viva La Vida," and "Adventure of a Life." Some audience members, unable to contain their excitement, stretched their arms high into the sky and jumped in place. Others linked arms and sang along together.
Throughout the concert, the wrists of the audience sparkled with various colors. Instead of selling light sticks like idol group concerts, Coldplay provided free LED bracelets. After the show, these were collected at the exits. This was done with environmental protection in mind. In 2019, shocked by the environmental damage caused by their world tour, they halted touring and prepared countermeasures before resuming in 2020.

The day was April 16th, the 11th anniversary of the Sewol ferry disaster. When Coldplay passionately sang "Yellow," the audience was illuminated by yellow lights, creating a spectacular scene. During their previous Korea visit, they had displayed a yellow ribbon on the screen to commemorate the 3rd anniversary of the Sewol disaster. This year, they continued the tribute by coloring the venue yellow.
Before performing "My Universe," a collaboration with the group BTS, Coldplay expressed affection by calling out the names of BTS members one by one. On stage, "A Sky Full Of Stars" was accompanied by lively electric guitar melodies as multicolored fireworks exploded, driving the performance toward its climax.
"Put down your phones and enjoy freely." Before the final song, vocalist Martin shouted this, and the sparkling phone lights in the audience gradually went out. The audience raised their hands wearing LED bracelets high above their heads and surrendered their bodies to the rhythm. It felt more like a shared "festival" than a concert.
Instead of shouting "Encore," the audience sang the chorus melody of "Viva La Vida." Coldplay, who returned without hesitation, passionately performed six encore songs. When singing "Fix You," the audience was bathed in sunlight, leaving a deep impression.
