Gwangju Seo-gu Councilor Lim Seonghwa: "Customized Support for Single-Person Households and Multicultural Families"

Ordinance on the Establishment and Operation of the Healthy Family Support Center Passes Plenary Session

The ordinance for the complete revision of the "Gwangju Seo-gu Healthy Family Support Center Establishment and Operation Ordinance," which was proposed by Representative Lim Seonghwa (Gwangcheon-dong, Yudeok-dong, Chipyeong-dong, Sangmu 1-dong, Dongcheon-dong) of the Seo-gu Council in Gwangju during the 329th temporary session, recently passed the plenary session.

This "Seo-gu Healthy Family Support Center Establishment and Operation Ordinance Complete Revision" supplements and revises the entire ordinance related to the establishment and operation of the family center, including the purpose of the ordinance, ▲name and establishment ▲functions ▲organization ▲committee ▲(center) operation ▲resource utilization and institutional linkage. The ordinance name was also changed to reflect the new center name, becoming the "Gwangju Metropolitan City Seo-gu Family Center Establishment and Operation Ordinance."

Representative Lim stated, "The previous 'Healthy Family and Multicultural Family Support Center' has been renamed to 'Family Center,'" and added, "The center's role is becoming more important as family support services, which were previously provided as post-treatment, are now being expanded into preventive and integrated support for various families."

She continued, "Based on this ordinance, we will further enhance the accessibility of family support services such as customized support and capacity-building projects for various family types, including single-person households, single-parent families, and multicultural families, considering the characteristics of Seo-gu residents."

As a social welfare expert, Representative Lim has consistently raised issues regarding the aging facilities and user inconvenience due to the location of the "Gwangju Seo-gu Family Support Center," and has recently worked to relocate the "Seo-gu Family Center" to Yang-dong.

Representative Lim is actively engaged in legislative activities to discover and expand welfare policies tailored to the local community, such as the "Support Ordinance for Alleviating Child Housing Poverty" and the "Single-Person Household Support Ordinance."
