Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon on the 16th took it upon himself to be known as the "Son of Chungcheong" on the first day of the Chungcheong region's party member voting.
On that day, Candidate Kim said at his Yeouido campaign office in Seoul, "It is very meaningful to start the touring primaries from Chungcheong as the son of Chungcheong."
He said, "I was born and raised in Chungbuk and began my first public service career at the Chungbuk Provincial Office. My wife was born in Nonsan and attended school in Cheonan for a long time," adding, "I am grateful to the people of my hometown for giving me higher evaluations in Chungcheong, my hometown."
He also revealed plans for relocating the presidential office to Sejong. Governor Kim stated, "I will work in Sejong the day after the president's inauguration. We will significantly slim down the presidential office, and although it would be ideal to change the power structure through constitutional amendment, even without that, it is possible because we will implement a system of responsible prime minister and responsible ministers," he emphasized.

He added, "If I work with a responsible prime minister and responsible ministers, since the prime minister and ministers are all in Sejong City, it is necessary to meet frequently as needed," and argued, "From that perspective, the organizational structure of the presidential office must fundamentally change."
Governor Kim explained, "I believe it is possible to operate the presidential office with about 100 people excluding the foreign affairs and security sectors, and since it can be done with a responsible prime minister and responsible ministers, I am considering abolishing the chief secretary system," adding, "From my perspective as someone leading reform to break vested interests, the presidential office can reduce its current size of 500 people to one-fifth."
