Hampyeong County in Jeollanam-do announced on the 16th that it had organized an advanced field trip for local farmers to strengthen the competitiveness of zucchini, a regional specialty crop.
On the 12th, twenty zucchini farmers visited leading farms in Gwangyang and Gurye to conduct on-site tours aimed at establishing year-round production systems and improving cultivation techniques.
This field trip focused on practical training through advanced cultivation cases from major zucchini-producing farms, centering on key techniques such as soil environment management, crop vigor management, and fruit setting methods. The training provided on-site was operated in a practical and systematic manner tailored to the farmers' level.
One participating farmer said, "It was a meaningful experience to learn new zucchini cultivation techniques directly in the field," adding, "There was a lot of immediately applicable technology and information, which gave me a new perspective on zucchini farming."
Hampyeong County Governor Lee Sangik stated, "This field trip was a valuable opportunity for farmers to acquire systematic and scientific cultivation techniques," and added, "We will continue to enhance agricultural competitiveness through field-oriented education and customized support."
Meanwhile, the Hampyeong County Agricultural Technology Center has been actively promoting the 'Establishment of Year-Round Zucchini Production Base Project' after being selected for the 'Customized Future Strategy Regional Specialty Crop Development Project' organized by the Jeollanam-do Agricultural Research and Extension Services this year. Through this, the county plans to enhance the competitiveness of the zucchini industry and support stable income generation for farmers by improving existing cultivation facilities and expanding the dissemination of technology.
