Four-Party Agreement Signed for One-Stop Procurement
of Organs and Human Tissues from Brain-Dead Donors
Changwon Hanmaeum Hospital in Gyeongnam signed a four-party business agreement in the main hospital's 4th-floor conference room with the Korea Organ and Tissue Donation Agency, the Ministry of Health and Welfare's National Institute of Organ, Tissue and Blood Management, and the Korea Public Tissue Bank to operate a program for the management and activation of brain-dead organ donors.
The agreement, made on the 15th, was pursued to establish a one-stop system that enables the efficient simultaneous procurement of organs and human tissues from brain-dead donors, and to lay the foundation for cooperation in the integrated management and promotion of organ and tissue donation.
The signing ceremony was attended by a total of 22 people, including Changwon Hanmaeum Hospital Chairman Ha Choongsik, Organ Transplant Center Director Joo Jongwoo, Korea Organ and Tissue Donation Agency President Lee Samyeol, National Institute of Organ, Tissue and Blood Management Manager Kim Youngji, and Korea Public Tissue Bank President Lee Hyeonghun, reaffirming the meaning of sharing life.
On this day, the four institutions agreed to cooperate in the systematic management of brain-dead organ donors, joint operation of donation activation programs, and the establishment of a practical system for the integrated management of organs and human tissues.
In particular, through this agreement, which integrates the procedures for organ and human tissue donation into a single flow, it is expected that the consistency and efficiency of the entire donation process will be greatly improved, enabling a faster and more organic response on site. It is also anticipated that the respect for donors and guidance for their families will be systematically strengthened, creating an environment where the value of donation can be fully conveyed.
Chairman Ha Choongsik of Changwon Hanmaeum Hospital stated, "This agreement is a turning point that will enable organ and human tissue donation to be realized in a practical and meaningful way," and added, "Changwon Hanmaeum Hospital will continue to fulfill its responsibility for sharing life and steadily expand its specialized systems and infrastructure."
With this agreement, Changwon Hanmaeum Hospital plans to strengthen its role as the central hospital for organ and tissue donation in the Gyeongnam region, and the four institutions will further develop sustainable cooperation measures centered on a working-level consultative body.
